On July 8 at 8:00 p.m., the National Youth Philharmonic will perform for the first time at the Summer Theater in Veliko Tarnovo. The concert is part of the accompanying program of the “Stage of the Centuries” 2026 Summer Opera Festival.
Admission to the event is free.
The National Youth Philharmonic project was inspired by a spontaneous idea from Ms. Stolina Dobreva, director of the “Lyubomir Pipkov” National Music School in Sofia, to bring together and showcase outstanding graduates of the arts schools under the Ministry of Culture.
This gathering of young artists from different cities and generations lays the groundwork for building lasting professional and personal relationships among them, as well as a new form of collaboration and community among the country’s arts schools.
The program’s fundamental conceptual framework, which includes works by composers who have served as patrons of the schools-among them Veselin Stoyanov, Dobri Hristov, Pancho Vladigerov, Panayot Pipkov, and Lyubomir Pipkov-highlights the continuity between tradition and modernity and offers a vision for the future. The project is conceived as a large-scale platform whose significant potential and sustainability guarantee its success and long-term development.
The National Youth Philharmonic, under the baton of Maestro Slavil Dimitrov, will feature young musicians from the “Lyubomir Pipkov” National Music School in Sofia, the “Prof. Veselin Stoyanov” National School of Arts in Ruse, the “Dobri Hristov” National School of Arts in Varna, the “Dobrin Petkov” National School of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv, the “Panayot Pipkov” National School of Arts in Pleven, “Kristina Morfova” National School of Music and Performing Arts – Stara Zagora, and “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National School of Music and Performing Arts – Burgas.
