ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

STAGE OF THE AGES 2024

The 2024 season of the iconic event for the historical and spiritual capital of Bulgaria will feature three programmes on three stages in the period June-September. Titles from their repertoires will be presented by the operas from Varna, Stara Zagora, Ruse and Plovdiv, the Konstantin Kisimov Musical and Dramatic Theatre in Veliko Tarnovo, the Stefan Makedonski National Music Theatre, the Vratsa Symphony and the Pleven Philharmonic.
The Music Forum is organized by Veliko Tarnovo Municipality with the support of the Regional Historical Museum and the Municipal Tourist Agency “Tsarevgrad Tarnovo” and is a winner of the prestigious label “Europe for the Festivals. Festivals for Europe” 2024-2025.

PROGRAM

The festival will start on July 4 with the tour of Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, which will present the classic Chinese Kunqu opera “Meeting among the Blossoming Peaches”.
The official opening of Season 2024 is on 6 July with one of the most provocative, beautiful and captivating productions of the ballet Carmen to music by Bizet-Schedrin by the Ruse Opera Ballet Company.

15 titles are included in the poster of the Festival “Stage of the Centuries” 2024.
The accompanying programme, which includes 4 concerts, is in the summer theatre of Veliko Tarnovo.

BON-BON Music, Classica Ballet School and Virginia Ballet headline the children’s and youth program, “A Stage for the Ages: A Look to the Future.”

COMPLEMENTARY PROGRAMME

Accompanying events of Season 2024 will be in the Summer Theatre of Veliko Tarnovo and include the concerts “Musical Magic” by Maestro Yordan Kamdzhalov and the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra; the concert “The Vast of Vasil Petrov”; “The Taste of Time” – 80 years of Kiril Marichkov by the group “The Foundation” and the Orchestra of the Plovdiv State Opera and “Live on Broadway” by Raffi Bohosyan and the Ruse Opera.
