On July 19, 2024, the local Konstantin Kisimov Music and Drama Theatre presents on Tsarevets Stage “THE LAND OF SMILES”, operetta by Franz Lehár, libretto by Ludwig Herzer and Fritz Löhner-Beda.
“Land of Smiles” is a beautiful classical operetta in three acts, which is the pride of the repertoire of every national and world music theatre. The libretto was based on the text of “The Yellow Jacket” by Victor Leon.
A Chinese fairy tale, a story about the creation of the world, which is based mainly on love. This fairy tale recreates the human journey into our innermost dreams and desires, but also fears, which we were born with and experience throughout our existence.
The special sound of Lehar’s music made Paul Knepler say that “There are three types of dramatic music – opera, operetta and Lehár “.
The premiere of the operetta took place on October 10, 1929 in Berlin. In 1938, Franz Lehár himself conducted the premiere performance of the operetta at Vienna State Opera.
