A week after its thrilling open-air premiere at the Ancient Forum in Stara Zagora, Pancho Vladigerov’s opera “Tsar Kaloyan” came to life once again this time on the historic hill of Tsarevets in Veliko Tarnovo.
The large-scale production of the State Opera Stara Zagora not only presented an epic chapter of Bulgarian history but also moved audiences with its drama, visual power, and emotional impact.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Tourist Information Center of Stara Zagora has taken part in this cultural experience welcoming opera lovers and revealing the richness of the city through the lens of its culture and history.
If you are visiting the medieval capital, don’t miss the special exhibition dedicated to “Tsar Kaloyan.” It awaits you at the entrance of the Tsarevets Fortress and traces the journey of this landmark Bulgarian opera.
“Tsar Kaloyan,” the most attended opera of the 40th edition of the “Stage of the Ages” festival, proves once again that music can serve as a bridge between past and present.
