The famous stage cantata for soloists, choir, and orchestra, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, will be performed by the Vratsa Symphony Orchestra in Veliko Tarnovo. This time, the performance will feature 120 participants from various regions of Bulgaria and abroad, explained Hristo Pavlov, director and conductor of the cultural institution in the town under Okolchitsa.
“Actually, it turned out to be a great challenge, even just logistically, because people had to be gathered from so many different places in order to rehearse and perform it… Carmina Burana is a work for a wide audience – both specialists and non-specialists, and even for people who have never attended a symphonic concert, because the fact that it is sung makes it more accessible. At the same time, the inclusion of ordinary music, the songs he used, even though very old, also makes it more approachable…”
Carmina Burana will be presented on the stage of the Summer Theatre in Veliko Tarnovo on July 29 at 8:00 PM as part of the Stage of the Centuries festival program.
